The Sellers View...
We fell in love with the house as soon as we saw it and despite seeing others with bigger gardens and more room we still kept coming back to it so our decision was made and we moved in three months later in October 2003.
We loved the light and flow of the downstairs rooms but didn’t get to fully appreciate the beauty of it until the warmer days when you can open both sets of double doors onto the garden and bring the outside in. We paved the back garden and put in raised beds so it is now an ideal place to socialize, a delightful suntrap and requires little effort to keep it looking good.
We upgraded the family bathroom and downstairs toilet within the first year as they were definitely giving 70’s vibes and have installed a new kitchen within the last five years to make better use of the space. New windows and one set of doors replaced provided better heat retention and energy efficiency. The very thick walls hold the heat in the winter and cool in the summer (no cavity walls here!) The house has been a brilliant place to raise our family, with countryside all around us for walks with the dog and a small holding over the road with Alpacas and shortly to have reindeer! Fresh eggs to buy and always welcoming if you would like to greet the animals. It is a friendly hamlet of all ages with plenty to get involved with in Holyport village if you wish.
Our children have now flown the nest and we are looking to move closer to town facilities and an easy lock up and leave property for when we travel, which we hope will be often. We will miss Holyoak Cottage but hope someone will love it as much as us.
