Nevill Park is one of the most exclusive areas of Tunbridge Wells and was developed in the mid Victorian era. It is in the High Weald aonb and part of a Conservation Area and is known for its spacious and elegant Victorian villas bordered by vast areas of parkland, combining a countryside feel but with easy access to the centre of Tunbridge Wells.
This delightful apartment forms part of an impressive and characterful villa built circa1861and approached along a private drive leading to the property. This has been divided into four large apartments and the this property includes two designated carpark spaces. It was renovated and completely refurbished in 2009 and is now an elegant and contemporary flat designed for modern day living but within a characterful environment. It features large Spanish porcelain floor tiles and limestone flooring with underfloor heating throughout, bespoke double glazed windows, inset ceiling lights and raised flame effect electric fires.
Steps lead down to a south facing terrace that spans the width of the apartment and is a real suntrap. Three impressive stone portico archways are open to a veranda style entrance with storage cupboards and French doors that open into a charming garden room. This light space provides wonderful views over the terrace and, even when the weather is inclement or too hot, if the doors are open, you can still enjoy that ‘outdoor' feeling.
Double doors provide access to a stunning open plan living space with a dining/seating and large kitchen areas with white units housing a variety of appliances. There are built in storage units and floating shelves as well as an adjacent utility room. A rear hallway has external access and another door opens into the attractive sitting room with its bay window and wall mounted electric fire.
An inner hall leads to a cloakroom and three double bedrooms that all have ensuite bathrooms. The superb principal bedroom has built in wardrobes, French doors to the terrace and the ensuite has a stone mosaic marble surround bath.
What the Owner says:
The this property was historically the domestic quarters for the whole house and virtually the whole flat was the original kitchen complete with a cast iron range and a cauldron, a dumb waiter leading to the upper floors, a wine cellar in what is now the boiler area and a potting shed with wooden shelving in the modern main ensuite. Although the whole property was initially converted into four flats around 1970, the this property had not been touched since that time, so was in a somewhat ‘unloved' state when my parents took it on in 2008/9 and subsequently created the superb apartment you see today. I shall miss the spacious rooms, the wonderful terrace where I can sit and enjoy the environment as well as entertain friends and family for al fresco meals, but it is time for me to start a new chapter in my life.
The location is very attractive and convenient as we are parallel to Hungershall Park and close to Tunbridge Wells Common. While it is just a four minute drive to the station and the high street, we can enjoy a delightful walk across the Common and be in the centre of town in about 20 minutes.
Tunbridge Wells or, more formally Royal Tunbridge Wells, became a famous spa town in Regency times when it was frequented by the aristocracy who came to take the waters and enjoy the entertainment organised by Beau Nash. Much of this historic town was developed during that time including the famous Pantiles that now offers a delightful mix of independent shops, bars & restaurants.
