We moved to Sonning five years ago, just before lockdown, and were immediately welcomed-at a safe distance-into the wonderful community of Glebe Lane. From day one, we felt the warmth and charm that makes Sonning so special. It’s a village where community spirit thrives, and our whole family quickly felt at home.

Having two excellent schools nearby-Piggott and Reading Bluecoat for the older children and Sonning Primary for the younger ones-was a huge draw for us. The fact that the kids could safely cycle to school gave us peace of mind and a sense of real village living.

Once lockdown ended, the village truly came alive. From the sound of church bells to the buzz of local pubs and the support network through the village WhatsApp group, it’s clear that Sonning isn’t just a place to live-it’s a place to belong.

When we first viewed the house, we were stunned. From the outside, it looked like a modest semi, but as we stepped inside, it just kept opening up. The spacious extension with a large kitchen-diner transformed how we lived-bringing us together for meals, homework sessions, and even the occasional kitchen dance party!

The downstairs office space became an ideal homework zone for our daughters, and the utility room and downstairs loo were practical additions we quickly came to appreciate. Upstairs, there was no arguing over bedrooms-both bedrooms 2 and 3 are generous doubles, and the master suite is incredibly spacious, comfortably fitting our superking bed, plus the must-have ensuite for busy family life.

One of the true highlights of the property has been the brick-built annex at the end of the garden. With underfloor heating and its own bathroom, it’s been so versatile-serving as an office, gym, guest space for friends, a quiet retreat for visiting parents, and most recently, our daughter’s haven when home from university.

The garden itself is a joy-low maintenance with artificial grass and decking, which means no mud indoors, no matter the weather. Sun-drenched throughout the day and into the evening, it’s been the perfect setting for family gatherings, parties, and countless memories we’ll cherish forever.
This home has given us more than just space-it’s given us a lifestyle and a community we’ll always be grateful for.

We love Sonning and we love this gorgeous home!. It's been finished to a really high standard and has been extended to include everything needed for a modern family.

The lounge is cozy and great for chilling out in the evening. There is a good sized office tucked away, perfect for homeworkers or for the kids to do their homework. The open plan kitchen and dining room are bright and airy with good quality shaker style units, wooden work tops and a butler sink. From the kitchen, you have views and access to that lovely garden via the french doors. The utility room is next to the kitchen and houses the washing machine and dryer and a new Worcester Bosch boiler, a fresh modern cloakroom completes the downstairs space.

Upstairs, all of the three bedrooms are light, bright and roomy doubles. The principal suite is especially spacious and has a dressing area and ensuite enabling it to be a perfect relaxing haven. The family bathroom to the front of the home is modern with a good sized shower.

We particularly like the garden which wraps around the side of the property enabling the shed to be hidden away, meaning the rest of the garden can be used purely for fun and relaxation. There are raised beds and the whole area is smart and easily maintained. At the rear of the garden, there is a decked area which I would imagine is the perfect spot for sunbathing, firing up the barbeque and chilling, and there is rear access via a gate which is really handy.

The versatility of this home does not end here, there is a fully refurbished annex with underfloor heating and its own ensuite shower room, great for guests or members of the family that want their own space. It could also become a great gym or a second office, so super super flexible

There is plenty of parking making this home ideal for families with teenagers or young adults each with their own car, or for people that like to entertain or are lucky enough to have multiple vehicles! If that's not enough to love, the location is fabulous, there is easy access to the A4 or to Twyford or Reading stations for that commute. There are an expanse of fields to walk through and you could walk along the River Thames to Reading or Henley (as I have done many times). Lastly, Blue Coat & Sonning C of E are a stones throw away and you have a choice of secondary schools such as The Piggott school close by too.
