About this property
" Wick Road has been a wonderful home for us. In the summer, we’ve enjoyed sunny BBQs whilst the hot-air balloons float over the garden. In the winter, we love to watch the fireworks over the city from the bedroom windows. We’ll really miss our fantastic neighbours and the friendly local community. Being able to walk to and from work in central Bristol with a good podcast has been an ideal commute!
Our local highlights include: Spotting kingfishers in Nightingale Valley; watching films and theatre in Arnos Vale Cemetery and picking up a fresh sourdough from Deli for brunch. There is so much to do in the area and we’ve made loads of new connections through activities like pregnancy yoga at The Langton, Rhyme Time at Wick Road Library and Rock Out Baby at St Cuthbert’s Church. "
The home
The house has been substantially improved by the current owners. Downstairs there is a living room at the front with bay window, wooden shutters and period fireplace. To the rear is an open plan kitchen/diner with modern kitchen and engineered wooden flooring in the dining room. There is a small utility area at the rear with door to the rear garden. Upstairs are three double bedrooms and a modern family bathroom. As well as double-glazing and gas central heating, this property benefits from both loft and underfloor insulation making it more energy efficient than typical houses of this age.
The outside
The garden has been landscaped with a lawn, wooden pergola at the rear on a patio for dining and raised beds with established plants and trees. There is also rear access.
Living in Brislington
Situated in a lovely pocket of houses in Brislington, this property is within walking distance of several well-regarded shops and cafes including Grounded and Deli at Sandy Park. Paintworks is also just a short walk and is home to Miro Lounge and Alex Does Coffee. Tapestry and Lost & Grounded are nationally renowned Bristol breweries with tap rooms, both of which are within walking distance.
The area is popular with young professionals and families, being both close to the city centre but also accessible to several parks and larger green areas, such as the Nightingale Valley Nature Reserve and St Annes Wood. Arnos Vale Cemetery is just a short walk away and there are fairly extensive footpaths around the River Avon, which wrap around Brislington through some scenic spots, which includes the popular Beese’s Riverside Bar to the west. The area is also home to several good schools, such as Holymead and Broomhill Infants and Juniors. For commuters, Brislington is well placed, with several buses running through the area including the Park & Ride, as well as routes for cycling and walking to Bristol City Centre.
