While excited to start a new life abroad, we will truly miss living here. Being on the top floor, it is incredibly quiet and peaceful, filled with light from morning through to late afternoon. Throughout the year, it feels bright and airy, and the sunsets are something we will genuinely miss - many evenings were spent watching the sky soften and change colour, bringing a real sense of calm at the end of the day.
The flat has also been extremely practical for everyday life. The excellent storage, including a large walk-in wardrobe and generous eaves space, made it easy to keep everything organised, which was especially helpful with a young child.
The building itself is well-maintained and looked after. Neighbours make the community feel welcoming and easy to call home. The neighbourhood has been just as important to us. It has a genuine village feel, with green areas and birdsong in the mornings, while still being close to Ealing Broadway, the shopping centre and the Elizabeth Line. It’s rare to find somewhere that feels so calm yet so well-connected. Being within the catchment area of Montpelier Primary School, and surrounded by other excellent schools, gave us real peace of mind.
Pitshanger Lane is only a five-minute walk away and full of character, with lovely independent shops and cafés (the bakery, deli, butcher and fruit shop are especially wonderful). Weekend brunch at GrillVille followed by a walk through Pitshanger Park became a favourite routine, and one we will always associate with living here.
Why we would buy this home:
Nothing here is accidental, and that’s precisely the point. The first thing you notice is the generous footprint - the second is how intelligently every square foot has been used. The rooms are genuinely spacious, the spec is high and the storage outstanding - a proper walk-in wardrobe and generous eaves storage mean the space stays calm, sophisticated and uncluttered.
The convenience of a reliable lift, allocated off-street parking and secure cycle storage, make everyday life just that little bit smoother, and other important benefits worth noting include underfloor heating, Philips Hue dimmable lighting that adapts to your mood rather than dictating it, a new boiler and fibre-optic broadband.
Being part of a smaller development with a share of freehold adds a sense of control, community, stewardship and long-term confidence. But it's not just about practical advantages - the home has soul, and atmosphere. Whether it's a family meal full of laughter, a necessary morning coffee while gazing out of the architecturally unique windows, or an indulgent evening wine, this feels like the perfect environment.
And then there’s the location: Leafy Castlebar Park. It feels tucked away, yet remains effortlessly connected, particularly with Ealing Broadway (Elizabeth, Central, District lines) close by. The location is further boosted by amazing schools, gorgeous parks and the boutiquey high street in Pitshanger Village.
