An exceptionally spacious three-bedroom flat with a rare private south-facing garden. Filled with natural light, this beautifully designed home features open-plan living with bi-fold doors, two bathrooms and excellent commuter links, moments from woodland walks.

We still remember the first moment we walked through the door. It was the space that stopped us in our tracks. Light, open and unexpectedly generous, the flat felt instantly different from anything else we'd seen. One of the largest three-bedroom flats in the area, with its own private south-facing garden, it offered something genuinely rare, room to breathe, both indoors and out.

Each bedroom felt thoughtfully proportioned rather than compromised, and the presence of two bathrooms was something we knew we'd never want to live without. It made everyday life easier and meant hosting friends and family always felt relaxed rather than rushed.

We bought the flat in the summer of 2024, and the way the light moved through the rooms quickly became one of our favourite things about living here. Sun streams in from morning to evening, filling the space with warmth and making even ordinary days feel brighter. The open-plan kitchen and living area soon became the heart of the home, a place where evenings naturally unfold. With both sets of bi-fold doors thrown open onto the garden, the inside and outside blend into one, especially on long summer nights. Small touches like the instant boiling water tap and built-in wine fridge quietly elevate everyday moments and make entertaining feel effortless.

The garden has been our sanctuary. Tucked away and wonderfully private, it's a place where time seems to slow down. Mornings often begin with coffee outside, listening to birdsong. Afternoons drift by in a hammock with a book, and evenings are shared with friends under open skies. It's peaceful, secluded and surprisingly quiet, a little pocket of calm that still feels special every time we step into it.

Just 100 metres down the road, Foxley Woods feels like stepping into another world. Despite Purley's already gentle, suburban rhythm, the woods offer a true escape. Wandering the trails, it's easy to forget you're anywhere near London. Walk far enough and the landscape opens up into sweeping views across the valley, fields dotted with sheep and skies that seem impossibly wide.

And yet, when the city calls, it's close at hand. London Bridge, Clapham Junction and Victoria are all within easy reach, making the commute surprisingly quick and straightforward. For cycling days, secure residents-only bike storage sits discreetly at the rear of the building.

The street itself has been one of the loveliest surprises. There's a genuine warmth to the community here, neighbours who stop to chat, offer help and make you feel at home. A residents' WhatsApp group keeps everyone connected and adds to that rare sense of belonging.

When we first arrived, we didn't know Purley particularly well. Over time, it's revealed itself as the perfect middle ground between city energy and countryside calm. Independent coffee shops, cafés and reformer Pilates studios are gradually popping up, adding life and vibrancy without disturbing the area's relaxed, village-like feel.

Inside, the flat continues to impress in quieter ways. Floor-to-ceiling, triple-glazed windows flood the rooms with light while keeping everything wonderfully insulated. Energy bills stay reassuringly low, and the underfloor heating, with individual room controls, has become something we now can't imagine living without, especially on cold winter mornings.

One of the unexpected joys of living here has been how easy it is to get outside. Foxley Woods is perfect for everyday walks, while a short drive or cycle brings you to the Narnia Trail and Happy Valley, where open landscapes and long views make it feel as though London is a distant memory.

This flat hasn't just been a place to live, it's been the setting for countless moments we'll always remember. From quiet mornings to lively evenings, it's a home that gives back in ways we never expected, and one we've truly loved.
