When we first visited the flat, we were instantly drawn to the many windows, the amount of light they bring into the flat, the high ceilings, space and open feeling and the quality of everything. We were the first to own the flat after it had been built, the building itself had previously been an office space. The standard of finish and quality of the details really stood out to us, especially after having viewed lots of other new build flats. It was also hugely appealing as something different to anything else we had seen with the giant curve in the main room.
We are south facing, so sun and light all day, during the winter and with the lower sun, this warms up the flat beautifully (regularly reaches 25 degrees without the heating on!). Fortunately, there is an awning outside above the windows, so during the summer months with the sun high in the sky, we get very minimal direct sunlight meaning the flat doesn't become unbearably hot, especially as there are so many windows that can be opened.
We also love how quiet the flat is, and with the light, high ceilings and space in the main room, it brings a very relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. It really feels like an oasis. We rarely hear neighbours or much else, due to solid walls and build, but also because the flat is tucked right at the end of the building which helps. It's slightly unusual to back onto a business park, they all leave around 5pm on weekdays and are vacant on the weekends though which adds to the quiet appeal. Due to the location of offices in the nearer building we're not overlooked, and when the leaves are on the trees you don't see most of the buildings. When you are sitting, you only see the sky and trees out of the windows, making you feel like you're somewhere totally remote. We have blinds on the windows in the living room, but almost never pull them down, because we don't need to.
Transport options are great, we can walk to Langley station in about 16 minutes, and can then get to Paddington in under 30 minutes on the speedy Elizabeth line. It's also fantastic if you drive with the M4, M25 & M40 all very close, and 10 minutes to drive to Windsor. It's very helpful having an allocated car parking spot and the visitor parking works very well and is easy to use. There's also 6 electric charging points in the carpark if you have an electric vehicle. While Heathrow Airport is only a 15-minute drive away, aircraft noise is very minimal, unlike a lot of other areas in the vicinity like Datchet or Taplow. Planes do not fly overhead, and they are only visible in the distance during take-off/landing. Being so close to Heathrow without the accompanying plane noise is a real advantage - perfect for early flights and stress-free late night returns.
We’ve loved having the local leisure centre just a two minutes walk from the flat, with its swimming pool, sauna, gym and wide range of classes - the convenience genuinely makes it easy to use regularly. A nearby park is only a five-minute walk away and features a children’s play area, basketball court and zip line, with the walk taking you past a field of friendly horses that locals often stop to admire/feed. A Tesco Express is also conveniently located just five minutes away for everyday essentials, while a Sainsbury’s Superstore is just a 10 minute drive away for bigger shops. We also love the quick and easy access to the countryside, Langley Park and Great Windsor Park being our two favourite parks to visit. If you're a runner, Langley Park is a nice one to run to. The park was designed by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown and has woods - including many giant sequoia trees - a lake, gardens and a cafe.
We will be so sad to leave our Langley flat oasis - it has been a special place for us. However, with the upcoming arrival of a new baby, we are looking to upsize and so is why we are moving.
