Owners' Insight

"We have truly loved our time at Barnfield Road, but after twenty eight wonderful years, we feel it is now the right moment to downsize.

From the very first time we walked through the door, we were immediately drawn to the character of the house, its open aspect, and the wonderfully bright, spacious rooms. Those qualities have remained just as special to us over the years, and it will undoubtedly be emotional when we finally close the door for the last time.

We relocated within Torquay and continue to love this fantastic area. Being so close to the seafront, beautiful beaches, the train station, and Cockington Country Park has been a real privilege. One of our favourite moments each year is enjoying a prime view of the fireworks from Corbyn Head, and the location is perfectly central for getting anywhere within the bay or heading further afield.

This has been a much loved home filled with happy memories, and we hope the next owners will enjoy it just as much as we have."

Step Inside

Stepping through the composite oak effect entrance door into a welcoming reception hall filled with natural light and benefitting from useful understairs storage. The sitting room enjoys a bright, dual aspect with walk-in bay, with direct access to the terrace, and a natural stone fireplace with inset living flame gas log fire. The dining room also offers a dual aspect, featuring a corner window with seaward glimpses towards Tor Bay and elevated views across the surrounding area.

The kitchen has been stylishly updated during our clients’ ownership, fitted with sleek white high gloss units and woodblock effect worktops with sink. Integrated appliances include oven and grill, ceramic hob with extractor, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. A larder cupboard with window and separate utility cupboard housing the gas boiler complete the space, along with tiled flooring, two windows and a rear access door.

Step Upstairs

From the reception hall, a turned staircase rises to the first floor landing with loft access hatch and retractable ladder. The principal bedroom is a beautifully proportioned room featuring a seaward facing picture window and additional bay with deep oak sill, enjoying views towards Corbyn Head, the seafront and marina. An en-suite provides a double shower, basin, WC and useful linen cupboard.

Bedroom two is another generous double, enjoying a dual aspect with bay window and open outlook across the surrounding area to Tor Bay. Bedroom three is positioned to the rear. Completing the accommodation is the family bathroom, fitted with a panelled bath, double shower, basin and WC.

Step Outside

A particular feature of the property is the attractive front garden, partly laid to lawn and complemented by mature shrubs and well stocked flower beds. Adjoining the house is a two tier terrace, providing a wonderful space to relax and take in the beautiful views over the surrounding area toward the sea. Access is available to either side of the property leading to the rear.

The rear enjoys a sheltered, southerly aspect and features a raised artificial lawn bordered by mature hedging, creating a private and low-maintenance outdoor space. Five bar gates open to two concrete hardstanding driveways and a single garage with pitched slate roof. The parking is approached via a private shared driveway leading off Mead Road.
