The Old Hall dates from the late 16th Century and is Grade II listed on account of its architectural importance in the area. Constructed from distinctive Yorkshire sandstone under a stone slate roof, materials used in part to build York Minster. The house was home to Thomas Norton who lived in the Old Hall with his son Lord Fletcher Norton whilst commissioning Grantley Hall. The house received a number of features mirrored in the York Minster, including some eye catching chamfered mullioned windows with stone surrounds and continuous hoodmoulds.
