Property insight
A detached family home of over 3,000 sq ft, occupying a long plot that backs directly onto open countryside in the village of Whaddon. Finished with a contemporary New England-style weatherboard exterior, the accommodation is exceptionally flexible, with five/six bedrooms, four en-suites plus a family bathroom and ground-floor bathroom, a study, a utility, an integral garage, and a substantial garden. At its heart is an open-plan kitchen/dining/living space flowing into a further family room with bi-fold doors onto the garden and countryside beyond.

Approached over a generous gravelled frontage with parking for several vehicles and an integral garage, the home makes a striking first impression, with its crisp weatherboarding and brick base. Stepping inside, oak flooring runs through much of the ground floor, setting a calm, light and contemporary tone that continues throughout.

The kitchen/dining/living room is a wonderful, sociable space that runs the depth of the home. The kitchen is fitted with an extensive range of handleless units, integrated appliances, twin ovens, and composite worktops, with a large solid oak dining table sitting comfortably alongside. The room opens through to a vast family/living area, where bi-fold doors fold right back to bring the garden inside and frame the countryside views - a brilliant entertaining space and a real suntrap through the warmer months.

Also on the ground floor, there is a separate study, a useful utility room with space for laundry appliances, a fifth bedroom served by a ground-floor bathroom (ideal as a guest suite, annexe-style room or home office), and access to the integral garage.

Upstairs, the first floor offers four further bedrooms and a snug. The principal bedroom is a generous, dual-aspect room enjoying wonderful countryside views, with its own dressing room and a stylish en-suite with both a bath and walk-in shower. Two of the remaining bedrooms also benefit from their own en-suite shower rooms, and there is a family bathroom serving the rest of the floor. The well-proportioned snug offers flexible use as a sixth bedroom, second sitting room or home office, depending on your needs. The vaulted ceilings to several rooms add a lovely sense of character and light.

Outside, the rear garden is a substantial size and offers a genuine blank canvas, stretching back towards open fields with no properties behind. Currently laid to lawn and meadow grass with mature trees, shrubs and outbuildings, it presents an excellent opportunity for new owners to landscape and shape the space to their own taste, with the open countryside as a backdrop.
