Property Insight
Set on the edge of Red Lodge and backing directly onto the open heathland of Red Lodge Heath, this extended semi-detached home makes the most of a rare position where the garden gives way to trees and open country with no properties beyond. Presented to a high standard throughout, the house has been thoughtfully extended and reconfigured to create generous, flexible living space, and is further complemented by two versatile outbuildings - a converted garage and a separate garden office - opening up genuine scope for home working, exercise or play. Held freehold, with a recently landscaped west-facing garden, it is a well-judged family home in a popular village setting.

The heart of the home is a bright open-plan lounge and dining room, finished with wood-effect flooring and recessed spotlighting, running the full depth of the ground floor to draw light from both ends. This flows through to a kitchen and breakfast room fitted with white units and dark worktops, integrated and freestanding appliances, and a breakfast bar for casual seating, while a further dining area sits beneath a large picture window framing the garden beyond. Air conditioning runs throughout the home, a practical touch that lifts the everyday comfort of the house across the seasons, and the layout throughout keeps cooking, dining and relaxing connected rather than compartmentalised.

Upstairs, the property offers three well-proportioned bedrooms served by a family bathroom with a shower over the bath, and the second bedroom enjoys a leafy outlook across the heath. Outside is where the home comes into its own: A recently landscaped, west-facing garden combines a paved terrace and timber decking with an area of low-maintenance lawn, screened to the boundaries. The converted garage now provides an air-conditioned gym and games room, while a separate garden studio with French doors offers a quiet, self-contained workspace looking back over the garden. Secure driveway parking completes the picture. A rare chance to secure a versatile family home with open countryside on the doorstep.

Location – Red Lodge
Red Lodge is a popular civil parish village in rural Suffolk, between Mildenhall and Newmarket and only a short distance from the A11 and A14. The nearest railway station is 2 miles away at Kennett, and buses run to Mildenhall, Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds and other nearby towns. Housing was first built here in 1926, but the Red Lodge Inn dates back to the 17th Century and is thought to have been a former hunting lodge; today it is a thriving steakhouse and bar specialising in exotic meats. Red Lodge Heath is a Site of Special Scientific Interest with a number of nationally rare plants and animals. The growing community is served by an Ecumenical church, a primary school, a village hall, the Millennium Centre, a sports pavilion with tennis courts, a five-a-side pitch and allotments, alongside a village centre opened in 2014 with a convenience store, fish and chip shop, pharmacy and hairdressers. Red Lodge Karting is among the largest karting tracks in the country. There is also a Tesco store within the village.
