Sellers Insight
"We loved the tranquil surroundings of mature gardens and ancient buildings, yet within walking distance of Ilsham shops, cafes and school. We enjoyed many wonderful coastal and woodland walks from the house, often including a swim or cafe brunch at one of the two beautiful nearby beaches.
The spacious sunlit rooms, flexible layout and ample built in storage of the house worked well for our family at all stages. Having the main living accommodation and bedrooms at ground level, but with extra bedrooms and living area at the lower level was great for young children, teenagers and for having friends or elderly relatives to stay.
Favourite memories include soaking up the sun on our terrace, even in February. Also, the sea view from our dining table and glimpses of the sea from the back and side gardens.
Work and family commitments have now taken us to South Hams but we wish we could have taken Hope Cottage with us!"

Steps descend to a further hidden garden with a level lawn and patio beneath a pergola, with old stone walls and a small stone building believed to be medieval (but not listed). To one side of the house is a walled courtyard garden with shrub borders and steps to the side lobby. To the other side a ramped path leads through planting to the front via a side gate. The front garden is level with lawn, laurel hedge and shrub beds. A driveway with parking for several cars leads to a large garage with lighting, power points, work benches and ceramic Butler sink.
