Tucked away on a quiet residential road in Kingswinford, this extended three-bedroom semi-detached home has grown thoughtfully with its owners over the years. The star inside is a beautiful light-filled orangery. Alongside it, you'll find a generous extended lounge, a clever part garage conversion and solar panels on the roof. Out the back, the sunny south facing garden is the perfect partner to the orangery. And with off-street parking for several cars, everyday life is easy too.
We asked them what made them buy it...
"The first thing we noticed when we viewed it was the sunny, south facing back garden. That's what did it for us. But it was the road that made us choose it over the others. It's quiet, the community is good and the neighbours are good too. There's a strong community here, with events organised all year round. There are regular village fetes at Easter, Halloween and Christmas, plus a dog show, and the community centre has groups running too. We've got the coffee shop in Wall Heath, a choice of pubs, two good parks, and we're close to the woods and the common at Highgate. For schools, there's Church of the Ascension Primary, with Summerhill and Kingswinford for secondary. Getting around is easy. We're about 200 yards from the A449, which links north to the M6, and there are bus routes as well. What will we miss most? The neighbours, the village with its bakery, butcher, takeaways, pubs, parks and shops, and the road network."
What about the house itself?
"The garden is the one thing we've never stopped loving. We've got a vine covered pergola for shaded seating, a large decking area for sitting in the sun and having barbecues, and three raised beds for growing vegetables. Inside, we extended the lounge, extended the garage so we could convert half of it into a utility room, converted the conservatory into an orangery and added the porch. The orangery is the thing guests always comment on. We generally spend most of our time in the lounge, but we're in the orangery whenever the weather's good. The lounge is cosy in winter, and summer is all about the sunny orangery and the garden. Who's it perfect for? Honestly, all of the above."
Our agents say...
The orangery is the room everyone remembers. With skylights overhead and double French doors onto the patio, it fills the back of the house with light. It works beautifully with the kitchen/dining room, where you'll find plenty of worktop space, integrated appliances and room for a family table. Step outside and the south facing garden picks up where the orangery leaves off. There's a large paved patio, a well-kept lawn, gravel paths and a raised deck that's made for summer barbecues. And beyond the front door, you've got Wall Heath's shops, pubs and parks close by, great local schools, Highgate Common for weekend walks and the A449 just moments away. Get in touch today and come and see it for yourself.
